Wrote 2000 words

I know I said I was only going to track this dream every 10,000 words, but now I'm editing, the wordcount is rising much more slowly, so I'm going to track for getting to 42,000 words, as it's taken me as long as 10,000 would, and as much effort. Feels like I'm getting somewhere with it though.

Tracked

30,000 words in. Massive sense of achievement. This feels like it's actually becoming a novel now, rather than a bunch of ideas. No idea where it's going next or what I need to do from here on in, but definitely a high spot.

Another 10K - what a milestone. And it seems it's coming together the more you write. It's definitely all about that first draft. Hurrah!

That's what I figure. Each time I get another 10,000 words, I thought I'd treat myself by tracking it as another step towards achieving the dream. And if I manage to keep up the 500 words a day, the next time I get to do that should be in about 20 days (if my rather basic grasp of maths suggests).

Bec from Write-Track

Maths is spot on - and 20 days feels so achievable. So with weekends and a couple of bad days you could manage 10K a month. That seems pretty damn good.

This is where I'm at as I start a new, more focused goal - 14,000 words in. Aiming to get a first draft completed before end of July 2015.

Hey - great to have you back after the summer. You sound determined and focussed. You will finish that novel!

Wyl

Thanks - that's my second unexpected boost of the day. My first was when I asked a tutor at Manchester to be the supervisor for my thesis/novel, he replied he was already fully booked, but give him five minutes. And he came back in five minutes and said he'd changed things round so he could supervise me as he likes my writing :) Right - am going to take advice and start a new chapter this evening. Thanks :)

I'm not sure how to track a dream, but I guess wordcount is a good a place to start as any. Over 10,000 words in now (and happy with the majority of them, which is better than I've done before) so this feels like the first tangible step on the road to achieving my write a novel dream.

Thanks Sallie:)

That's a huge milestone Wyl - you're well on your way to the novel, so it definitely worth a track. Am still churning over how to log milestones and progress on dreams - it's a bit blunt for now, but I reckon that deserves a spot of surfing followed by a pint. Yay!

Wyl

I'm definitely going to treat myself to both once I've handed in my last submission for the term (which I'm hoping to do this coming week).
