Hello and welcome to Write-Track! We're a goal-setting community for writers who want to establish an effective writing habit and write more.

The Write-Track website is provided free of charge to anyone who agrees to follow and be legally bound by our terms and conditions. These are set out below. In using this website you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. Please read them carefully before registering to www.write-track.co.uk and accessing any of its features.

Description of the service

Write-Track helps writers by providing online tools so they can to monitor their writing progress and access a community of fellow writers for support and encouragement. As such Write-Track is purely a source of information for writers. Being part of a community also means that there's a few simple rules we ask our users to follow — for the good of everyone.

Having access to the site is conditional upon acceptance of these guidelines and terms of use. OK? Now the legal stuff.

Terms and conditions

Registering and creating your profile

  • You must be over 13 to register and be a human being. All you need to register is a valid email address or a Facebook or Twitter account.
  • You can keep up the grand tradition of nom de plumes and remain anonymous on the site. However, by registering with your real name you are helping us to increase trust in the Write-Track community. Write-Track is a place where you can make connections that improve your writing so there are some big advantages to registering with you real name. It's up to you.
  • Please note that the name you choose in your profile will be visible to other users on the site unless your profile is hidden.
  • We process personal data in accordance with our privacy policy. In agreeing to be bound by these terms and conditions you consent to our doing so. You should read the policy carefully, especially if you have any concerns about your privacy.
  • Your email address is used by this site to confirm your registration details and password, and to recover a lost password. Your email address will not be made visible to others.
  • Write-Track uses cookies to store information on your computer, tablet or smartphone. The only function of these cookies is to make using the site more convenient for you.

The ground rules of behaviour

  • No trolling: any deliberate provocation, harassment or verbal abuse of other members is strictly prohibited.
  • No spamming: don't harass other members with unwanted messages.
  • No abuse of any kind: any defamatory, sexist, racist, homophobic or verbally abusive comments are strictly prohibited (or anything that may violate any applicable laws).
  • Be nice: show respect to fellow writers, be friendly and polite. Always remember that your comments may be read by total strangers.
  • No touts or scammers: do not use the site to solicit business or scams. We advise users to let us know if they are approached by self-called publishers or agents who then ask for upfront payment.
  • No nasty files: don't use or spread files that are harmful in nature including computer viruses, Trojan horses, corrupted data, or other potentially harmful software or data.

Write-Track respects the intellectual property of all its users and expects all its users of the website to do the same.

We reserve the right to immediately remove and ban users who break these ground rules. We may remove any posts which we consider to be offensive or abusive, though this does not necessarily mean we will remove everything which might anger or offend you personally.

We reserve the right to remove any material from the site if we believe that we are required to do so by law.

Our responsibility

  • The website allows users to upload text, links, pictures and other content but we can't be responsible for what content is uploaded to the site. Content is not necessarily reviewed by Write-Track prior to posting and does not necessarily reflect the views or opinions of Write-Track.
  • Sometimes gremlins might get into the system and Write-Track might go down. Other times, we might need to take the service down for essential maintenance. Either way, we make no promises to provide any level of service to users.
  • Write-Track won't be liable for any direct, special, indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the Write-Track website.

Respecting other writers' work

  • We don't want you to do anything that might infringe the copyright of other people or organisations or make any content available to others that you don't have the right to.
  • If you're posting extracts or links to work that other people have written, please make sure you have the author's permission or that it's already out of copyright. If you're posting your own work, copyright will remain with you and will not transfer to Write-Track. We'll ask you to remove any posts that breach copyright.

How you use this website

  • We're happy for you to download material from the Write-Track or print it out but we don't want you to change or modify the material in any way without us knowing about it. You may not use any of the material on the site for commercial use or for your personal gain.
  • All content on this site is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International. In agreeing to these terms and conditions you agree to abide by that license and give us permission to make all your content available under that license, or any successor license.
  • We don't review or monitor any website linked to Write-Track so we also don't endorse any site that might be referenced. If you visit a third party site from a link posted to Write-Track, that's at your own risk.

Limitation of Liability

By accessing this website, you agree to these terms of usage and limitations of liability.

  • To the extent that any applicable law permits us, we exclude any liability for any loss or damage that you suffer as a result of using the Write-Track website.
  • To the extent that any applicable law permits us, we exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

General conditions

These terms and conditions are governed by English law. Any dispute arising in connection with these terms and conditions shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of England and Wales.

Write-Track is a new website and as a user-led community it will evolve according to its users' needs and interests. Write-Track reserves the right to oversee this evolution and to revise the terms and conditions in the light of developments.

If we update these terms and conditions we will announce the change on our blog and/or regular newsletters. Any changes will be binding on you seven days after we announce them.

Boilerplate

These final "boilerplate" terms of should go without saying, but we are saying them anyway just to be clear.

If any part of this agreement is ineffective (for example because it is unlawful) then the rest of the agreement should be read without it.

This agreement is between you and us and is not intended to give anyone else any rights.

We may sometimes fail to enforce our rights under this agreement (for example because we decide not to, or we did not realise you were in breach of contract). Just because we have not enforced any of our rights, does not stop us from doing so in the future.

Neither party is liable for anything which is beyond their reasonable control.
